MTC Engineering Sdn Bhd (MTCE)marked a significant milestone at the Malaysia Bid Round 2026 (MBR 2026) with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PETRONAS, reinforcing its position as a technology-driven upstream solutions provider for marginal and complex offshore developments.
The MoU commemorates PETRONAS’ recognition and confidence in MTCE’s proprietary Hummingbird Offshore Solution®, specifically the MTC FPSOLNG+ concept, a fit-for-purpose and cost-effective solution designed to monetise marginal and stranded gas fields efficiently. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to accelerating commercially viable upstream development strategies in Malaysia.
The exchange of the MoU was officiated by MTCE Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed Baqthiar Mad Saad, and Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM) Senior General Manager Resource Development & Management, Nurunnajwa Mohd Aras. The signing ceremony was witnessed by MPM Senior Vice President, Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong, and MTCE General Manager (Development), Ir. Roslan Daut.
The MTCE delegation was led by Executive Chairman Ir. Fauzi Ya’akob, alongside CEO Ahmed Baqthiar Mad Saad, General Manager (Development) Ir. Roslan Daut, Advisor Kamaruddin Salim, and Lead Process Engineer Ir. Anwar Ahmad, reflecting the company’s strong technical and leadership representation at the event.
During MBR 2026, Ir. Anwar Ahmad presented MTCE’s FPSOLNG+ concept, highlighting its capability to unlock marginal field value through an integrated floating production, storage and LNG solution. Designed with modularity, scalability and phased development flexibility, FPSOLNG+ enables accelerated time to first gas while optimising capital expenditure and enhancing overall project economics.
At the Synergy Hub session, Mr. Kamaruddin Salim delivered key insights on the commercial and technical strengths of the MTC FPSOLNG+ solution, emphasizing its role in improving marginal field monetization strategies and supporting sustainable upstream value creation.
Central to MTCE’s offering is the Hummingbird Offshore Solution®, a proprietary and trademarked fit-for-purpose and cost-effective field development model exclusively developed and introduced by MTCE way back in 2014.
